Sunday reflections

I’ve been working long hours on the revisions of FIRSTBORN. The changes are making the book stronger, I believe. One thing I was asked to do was add some “flashback” scenes. I’m really enjoying writing these. Perhaps that’s because I have carried the background story of these characters in my head for so many months that I’m able to just let the words rush out onto the computer screen. Many days, the words come hard as an author wrestles with one scene or another. These flashbacks haven’t been like that. What a delight!

Of course, I’m feeling the pressure to get back to work on PTM as well. The juggling act between two projects is sometimes overwhelming. It helps, I suppose, that Firstborn is a contemporary story and PTM is an historical. The characters aren’t getting jumbled in my head.

Today is Sunday, my day of rest. It’s something we all need, to step back from the business (and busyness) of life, to turn our thoughts on something other than ourselves and our work. It’s a good time to reflect on what the Lord is saying to us, and to seek His direction for our lives.
