There’s more to me than being a writer, of course, and when I’m not writing, I can be found reading or watching movies or walking on the treadmill or chatting with neighbors in the common area behind my house. You might also find me involved in something to do with one of the following interests. Check it out and get to know me a little better.

Boo Bear Hatcher
Boo is my beloved Papillon. She is not my first Papillon. That honor went to Poppet; after better than 13 years of filling my home with love and laughter, Poppet crossed the rainbow bridge. It wasn’t long before I knew I needed another charmer to love on. Enter Boo.
But there is more to the story than I knew. Although I believed I was buying my new puppy from a reputable breeder (recommendation of others, a nice website, award-winning dogs from the past), nearly three years later, I learned that the “breeder” had been arrested for animal cruelty and running a kennel without a license in a hoarding situation. She had dozens of dogs (well over 50) kept in horrible conditions in a tiny house.
For weeks after the information came out, I hugged Boo close and thanked God that I rescued her, even though I didn’t know I was rescuing her at the time. The happy ending to the story is that all of the dogs and puppies taken into custody were eventually placed in good homes to be loved and cared for.
Here are a few photos after Boo came to live with me:
Illustrating My Faith
From the very beginning of my Christian walk, I have made it my practice to write in the margins of my Bible, to underline and highlight, to interact with the word of God in a personal way.
But it wasn’t until late 2015 that I heard about creative Bible journaling. I don’t know when this practice began spreading like wildfire. Judging by all of the YouTube videos and Facebook groups, I’m guessing it was about two years before I discovered it myself. All I can say is that this way of interacting with Scripture took hold of my heart and imagination immediately.
Here are a few of my entries in the 100 Days of Bible Promises devotional journal (all Bible art journaling doesn’t have to be done in a Bible):
I’m a Happy Planner
I have used a paper planner of one kind or another going all the way back to 1982. While I also track my schedule on my Macs and iPhone, there is something about using a paper calendar that just feels good. Besides, it doesn’t have to be charged to work. 😉
I found various ways to make those older, very plain day planners pretty. But when I found the Happy Planner (a disk bound system) and the decorative planning community, I found my happy place.
It is one more creative outlet that brings me pleasure. So every week, you’ll find me planning out my schedule in spreads that are colorful and functual.
This has nothing to do with writing, of course, but it is one of my interests that I want to share with you.
To start with, I had heard about essential oils for years. I had good friends who encouraged me to give them a try. But I had little understanding about the benefits and no real desire to go in search of more information. I was a big time skeptic.
Then in the spring of 2015, I had one of those lightbulb moments that convinced me to begin researching in earnest. After pouring over information in books and on trusted websites for a number of weeks, I finally understood what essential oils are and how they work in the body. Eventually, I signed up to buy my therapeutic grade essential oils wholesale from a trusted essential oils company. (If you want the benefits, you need therapeutic grade oils.)
I began incorporating essential oils into my daily routine. In the summer, with the daily use of my oils in place, my doctor allowed me to go off one of my medications which had a couple of troublesome side effects to see if my body could deal with things more naturally. It did. I gained energy. I lost about ten pounds. I just felt and continue to feel better overall.
So that’s the very abridged version of how I turned from a total skeptic into a believer about essential oils.

Website Design by Robin
When I’m not writing, I love to help people (especially writers) get attractive websites at an affordable price. After designing and maintaining my own site for a couple of decades, I found myself being asked to help others. The next thing I knew, Website Design by Robin was born.
