When I’m Not Writing

There’s more to me than being a writer, of course, and when I’m not writing, I can be found reading or watching movies or walking on the treadmill or chatting with neighbors in the common area behind my house. I love activities at my church, and I love getting together with family members. Hobbies include decorative planning, Bible art journaling, and knitting. But what fills up most of my days at this time are my two Papillons.

Boo Bear Hatcher

Boo is not my first Papillon. That honor went to Poppet; after better than 13 years of filling my home with love and laughter, Poppet crossed the rainbow bridge in 2017. It wasn’t long before I knew I needed another charmer to love on. Enter Boo Bear. Here are a few photos of Boo:

Em-Dash Hatcher

In 2026, with Boo getting older, I decided that I should chance one more puppy before I, too, get too old to manage it. Enter Em-Dash. She’s still very young as I add her to this page.

Em-Dash weighed a whopping 1.9 pounds when she came to live with me at 9.5 weeks old.
She weighs 2.8 pounds as she is learning the command, Sit!
