From Enews from CBA:
ZONDERVAN AUTHOR LOSES CANCER BATTLE. British award-winning author and actor Rob Lacey, 43, died May 1 of bladder cancer. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Harnisch-Lacey, and his two young children, Lukas and Magdalena. Lacey’s award-winning retelling of the Bible in British street English, the word on the street (Zondervan) was listed by Borders as one of its 2004 best books in Religion and Spirituality. Lacey performed from the book at the 2004 CBA International Convention and on tour to more than 200,000 people. He also wrote the just-released Gospels paraphrase, the liberator (Zondervan). He will be deeply missed.
I have loved reading this paraphrased abridgement of the Bible. Lacey wrote this book as a way to help himself through his battle with cancer. I don’t believe he wrote it thinking of publication. He wrote it as a way to grow closer to God during a very difficult time. Now the book will remain behind while this young man goes ahead to glory.
My condolences to his wife and children and all who loved him.
