If you’re anything like me, your Christmas will look different this year. Normally, I get to gather with extended family on Christmas Eve and then go see a much anticipated movie on Christmas morning. But this year, while continuing to be cautious in a location where the spread of COVID has been bad, I’m focusing on all the blessings in my life, and remembering that it is CHRIST who I’m celebrating. His birth particularly. But also His life, His death, and His resurrection.
The word Christmas is a shortened version of Christ’s Mass, the festival that commemorates the Incarnation of the Word of God in the birth of Jesus Christ. I’m not sure believers pause often enough to consider that. We are commemorating the Incarnation of the Word of God, who is Jesus, the Messiah.
No matter how you’re observing this holiday in 2020, I pray that you will experience the joy of knowing the living Word of God in all His glory.

Your post is uplifting and I love what you said. (I think the priest in my parish would love it too.) This year has been tough, but, I think because of COVID I’ve actually grown closer to God and have come to realize that Jesus really WAS the Word of God. I’ve watched live-streamed Masses not just on Sundays but daily Masses as well. I’ve slowed down this Christmas season and enjoyed Advent and the joy of knowing Christ was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man so that he could save us! He is the Word made flesh! Thanks for your reminder of this and Merry Christmas!
May the trials of life always draw us closer to God. Amen!
Merry Christmas Robin. And may God bless you in the coming year!
Thanks, Shirley. Here’s to a blessed 2021.
Merry Christmas Robin and a Happy New Year!
