I have had one of those days. One of the writers associations I belong to just finished their dues renewal period. It is my volunteer job to purge the subscribers to various email groups of members who let their dues lapse. January 16 is always a nightmare. As soon as I purge the list, I can count on lots of emails from people saying, "Why was I removed?" Then I share the renewal links and end up adding folks back after they PayPal their dues.
My reward? Tonight is AMERICAN IDOL tryouts, part 1!! I can veg on the couch (after I do 12 miles on the cycle) and watch some poor deluded souls be humiliated by Simon and company. And every so often, I’ll get a glimpse of someone with genuine talent, someone who just might be the next American Idol.
Oh, I forgot to share this little tidbit. My niece’s stepson made it to #75 in the American Idol tryouts this season. Only the top 50 go to Hollywood. That’s pretty darn close out of all the hundreds (thousands?) who tryout. My brush with greatness, huh.
Another 15 minutes, and I’ll head to my exercise cycle with the TV set to Fox. Let’s talk about it later.
