upgrading the operating system to mavericks

Mac-OS-X-Mavericks-LogoIt comes around every year about this time. Time for upgrading to the new Mac OS. This year it’s to Mavericks, which is free!!!

Aside: I wonder why they put an s at the end this time when in the past the nicknames were singular? Lion, Mountain Lion, Snow Leopard, etc.

I’m very grateful that Apple released the new OS the day after I finished my line edits and before I got too deeply back into my work-in-progress, because it takes a lot of time to download and install and then upgrade apps where necessary. And since there is more than one Mac in my household, it means a lot of updating.

There are three or four apps that I use on my Macs that aren’t ready for Mavericks yet. But none of them are crucial. I’m liking the changes I’m seeing thus far, and since the software is reported to add an hour or more of battery life to a MacBook, I think it is definitely worth the upgrade.

What about you? Do you always update your OS?
