I haven’t written about the horror of the tsunami that has, as of today’s report, killed 135,000 and put 5 million others in need of the basics for survival (clean water, housing, clothing, food). How can one add to what so many others have said?
On December 30, Christian Conservative had a chart showing a number of natural disasters that have killed hundreds of thousands of people (including the 1918 flu epidemic that killed 20 million worldwide).
We live in a fallen world, on a planet that sometimes attacks itself. Life is precious and fragile. Because God placed eternity in our hearts, death always seems abnormal and wrong, even when it comes in old age.
Pray for those in the affected areas, that they may find comfort and truth. And give to a trusted charity to aid in the recovery of the affected countries. I recommend World Vision, an organization that has served around the world for decades. May God multiply your gift many times over.
