Triple-finalist

On Thursday evening, I got a phone call from the coordinator of the Faith, Hope, & Love Reader’s Choice Award. Since I had three books entered in the contest (each in a different category), I thought perhaps one of my books was a finalist.

Then the coordinator said something like, “Congratulations. All three of your books are finalists.” My brain sort of shut down at that moment. Gobsmacked (as in the image on this post) is the word I have used to describe my feelings ever since.

The finalist books and categories are:

All She Ever Dreamed in Short Historical
I’ll Be Seeing You in Women’s Fiction
Like the Wind in Long Contemporary

It’s been three years since a book of mine reached the finals of a contest. To have all three of my 2022 releases final in the same contest is surreal. Most years, if I have more than one release (and it is truly rare for me to have three), those books would usually be entered in the same category, i.e. two in long contemporary or two in women’s fiction. But 2022 was a bit of an odd year for me, including the genre of books that were released.

I will add that I am particularly honored because this is a reader’s choice award. The books are judged by readers only. No writers or publishing professionals are used for judges.

So, whether you were a judge in a contest or not, thanks for being a reader of my books. I appreciate you more than you know.
