When I participated in the Bible in 90 Days in January, February, and March of 2006, I used the Today’s New International Version. While reading the printed page of my Bible, I listened at the same time to the TNIV Audio Bible. Each book was read in full by one of about six excellent readers, both male and female. There was no music or dramatizing of the text. However, because the readers were so wonderful, I found it to be helpful in keeping me focused and understanding. It was a rich experience. I definitely recommend this audio Bible. It’s excellent.
That was then. This is now.
Enter The Bible Experience, also using the TNIV. The New Testament is available now. The Old Testament will release a year from now. This is "theater of the mind and spirit." It isn’t simply a reading of the Bible but a captivating performance of it that will bring it alive in your heart.
Here’s more information that I’m cutting and pasting (with some slight editing to avoid repetition):
Hear the words of the Bible brought to life like never before. Inspired By… The Bible Experience: New Testament Audio CD and mp3 CD include a fully-dramatized reading of the complete Bible performed by an unprecedented ensemble of distinguished, leading , all-star actors, musicians, and personalities. A cast of more than 200 stars including Blair Underwood (Jesus), Samuel L. Jackson (God), Angela Bassett (Esther), Denzel Washington (Solomon), Cuba Gooding Jr. (Judas), and many others, lent their talents to create The Bible Experience, a one-of-a-kind dramatized audio recording of the Bible, complete with an outstanding original musical score composed by Grammy award–winning producers. The features of The Bible Experience provide a rich listening experience, helping you hear the words of Scripture as if for the first time.
Years ago, probably in the late 1970’s, I tried listening to a dramatized version of The Living Bible. I didn’t like it. I can’t say for sure why, but I think it wasn’t high quality in terms of the actors, background sounds, or music.
But The Bible Experience has changed my mind about dramatized audio Bibles. This is the highest quality available today. I will listen to it on my iPod and in my car and in my office, and I will meditate on the Word of God whenever it plays.
Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed. Joshua 1:8
Don’t miss out!
