In seeking the Lord's presence this morning, I went to Psalm 8, which begins:
O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
A person's name embodies his reputation. I want my name to speak of faithfulness and integrity and kindness. And the names of God speak so much of who He is. LORD in the Hebrew is Yahweh, the covenant God of Israel. Lord in the Hebrew is 'adonay, the king of the earth.
O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Yes, LORD, Your majestic name fills the earth! All of your majestic names fill the earth!
Elah Elohim: Lord of Lords, God of Gods
Adonai Elohim: Lord God
Elah El Elyon: Lord God Most High
Adonai El Shalom: Lord of Peace
Elah El Olam: God of the Ages
Adonai El Ro'i: Lord of my vision
Elah El Kavod: God of Glory
Adonai El Yeshu'a: Lord of Deliverance
Yeshu'a Immanuel: Redeemer, God with us
As I whispered those names this morning in prayer and praise, I felt such joy, such privilege that the God of the universe, whose names I want to know, already knows me by name. He knows Robin. He knows my heart. And so I worshiped Him in song (including one I discovered recently when a Twitter follower shared it with me):
The more I seek You
The more I find You
The more I find You
The more I love YouI wanna sit at Your feet
Drink from the cup in Your hand
Lay back against You and breathe
Hear Your heart beat
This love is so deep
It's more than I can stand
I melt in Your peace
It's overwhelming
Imagine! We can sit at the feet of Jesus, lean against Him and hear His heart beat, and the love we'll find there is so deep, it's overwhelming. May you be aware of His presence throughout this day.
In the grip of His grace,
Robin
