A reminder from my journal:
And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, "Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin which I had lost!" (Luke 15:9)
But the father said to his slaves, "Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost, and has been found." (Luke 15:22-24)
"But we had to be merry and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found." (Luke 15:32)
Reading those verses in chapter 15 of Luke, I can't help but see how great is God's rejoicing when I turn to Him. He celebrates in heaven. He rejoices over me. He dances with joy. Sometimes, even when I know better, it's easy to slip into that mental state where I think of the God of the Universe as distant from me. But that's not true. He is here. He is with me now. He is my Friend, my Father, my Redeemer, my Comforter. I make Him happy.
Now there is an amazing thought. I make God happy. Every time I seek Him, He takes pleasure. I make Him happy. Me, who fails and falters and jerks along, falling short all the time at what I want to be, hope to be, desire to be. Amazing!
And guess what? You make Him happy too.
