Well, wonders will never cease! RIBBON OF YEARS *is* a RITA finalist, along with two books by Dee Henderson and one by Deb Raney. That, of course, is the good news. I was in a fog the rest of yesterday after I got the phone call telling me my book is a finalist.
The bad news? PTM is as boring as watching the grass grow in my back yard. I knew it. I’ve fought the knowledge and resisted facing the problem for too long. Yesterday, I faced it. I brainstormed with a writer friend of mine who read the (boring) manuscript over the weekend. Actually, there is a lot of the story I can salvage. But there is a lot that just must be changed. So today I do major surgery on PTM and will see what comes out on the other side. I’ve got to rewrite some of the back story as well.
The really, really bad news is: I now have about three months to write an entire book. Time to panic!!.
I can’t sleep (been awake since about 2:30 a.m.) so I might as well work.
