I have an appointment with my CPA on Tuesday, so I spent this afternoon completing the tax preparation packet for our meeting. She does both our personal and my corporation taxes so there is lots of information I have to get ready to hand over to her. But now it’s done, and if my quick estimate is close, we shouldn’t owe additional taxes this year and may even get a small refund. Yea!!!
Doesn’t getting your tax stuff all together earn a reward? If it doesn’t, it should. So let me make a recommendation to you. I recently made this discovery, thanks to author Tom Morrisey (new book, Deep Blue).
I love to listen to books on CD in my car, but they get very expensive to buy, especially unabridged fiction (my favorite). However, I rarely make it to my library or any place else that rents or lends audiobooks, so I end up buying them from Amazon.com, etc. Well, Audible.com has a terrific deal. For $14.95 per month, a member can get one book and one subscription (newspapers, radio programs, etc.). For $21.95 per month, a member can get two books. My first purchase was The Kite Runner which normally sells for $27.95. Another purchase was a book that normally sells for $51.95. Color me happy. Burning The Kite Runner took ten CDs. I think that’s pretty normal for most unabridged novels. So if you listen to audiobooks and usually buy one or two a month, I highly recommend this service.
Just for fun and off the top of my head, some of my favorite audiobooks are:
I Don’t Know How She Does It by Allison Pearson (read my Juliet Aubrey in a wonderful British accent)
The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus (read by Julia Roberts)
The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis (read by John Cleese)
Happy Reading or Listening
