I’ve got only three days before I have to send off this next book to my editor — three days and too many words yet to write — so I’m thankful today to be able to feature another author and her latest book on my blog.
Meet Rene Gutteridge, the author of Ghost Writer (Bethany), The Boo Series (WaterBrook), and the Storm Series, (Tyndale). Her 2006 releases include: Storm Surge, My Life as a Doormat, and Scoop, Book #1 in the Occupational Hazards series.
This new series is about seven homeschooled siblings whose last name is Hazard. The parents died in a freak accident, leaving the kids (ages 16-26) with a lucrative clown business. But the Hazard siblings realize that God has other plans which doesn’t include being a family of clowns for the rest of their lives.
Scoop centers around Hayden, who was 20 when her parents died. Hayden is a strong Christian who lacks some of the politically correct social norms…like not praying in front of everyone during a crisis. She finds herself in an internship at a television news station with a boss who takes stress pills, an aging news anchor, a weatherman who wants to predict love for himself and Hayden, and a reporter struggling with his own political correctness of being a good reporter and being a Christian.
Old School meets New School meets Homeschool. A smart and funny read.
Rene’s writing is as charming as she is. I hope you’ll check out Scoop soon.
