Praying Out the Year
“You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.” Deuteronomy 8:2 (NASB95)
Lord God, as we sit here on the brink of another new year, when our thoughts often turn to resolutions, plans, hopes, and dreams for the future, may we stop and sit for a moment and reflect upon all that you have done for us in the past.
Father, if all You did was love us in the middle of our messes, it is enough. Even if our prayers weren’t answered the ways we envisioned, it is enough. You have humbled us and tested us and learned what is in our hearts. We hope that what You have found there is pleasing in Your eyes. We thank You that You did not leave us as orphans in this crazy mixed up world but that You adopted us into Your family and covered us with the righteousness of Christ so that we might come boldly into Your presence.
Father, You are enough.
Jesus, You are enough.
Spirit, You are enough.
And because You are enough, so are we, because we belong to You.
We sit in amazement at all You have done for our good and Your glory. May we walk into the New Year rejoicing.
Amen
