I’ve had people ask me about my usage of essential oils, and I decided to answer them in a blog post.
My favorite methods of use are applying to the bottoms of my feet (a way for the oils to rapidly enter your blood stream) and diffusing into the air.
When I go into my office in the morning, I start my diffuser going. I tend to stick with wintergreen with the occasional addition of peppermint and/or spearmint. These scents invigorate me, and the properties of wintergreen essential oil help fight inflammation, always an issue with me. There are other oils I also diffuse or simply rub in my hands and inhale, but wintergreen is definitely #1 with peppermint a close second.
My next step is to apply three types of oil to the bottoms of my feet. I use frankincense, a blend called Balance, and a blend called OnGuard. I apply two drops of each to each foot, alternating back and forth in the application (two drops of one oil on right foot, two drops of same oil on left foot, next oil on right foot, etc.). I rub in each two drops thoroughly before moving on. When done, I put on socks to wear for the next ten minutes.
I use many more essential oils and blends than the ones mentioned above. In fact, the storage shelf I use holds well over 40 different ones. I use various oils for different reasons. Some are used rarely. Others are used frequently.
As I explain on my Essential Oils page, I was a long time skeptic about essential oils. And the first time I tried them (when I was diagnosed with cancer), I bought a poor grade of oil from a health food store, not knowing the importance of using therapeutic grade oils. When it comes to essential oils, you truly do get what you pay for. Today I use doTERRA Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® oils.
Why doTERRA? This video explains about quality, purity, efficacy, and consistency.
One of my favorite sources for learning about essential oils is Dr. Josh Axe, a doctor of natural medicine. Here is his video about the Top 12 Essential Oils of The Bible, but you can find many different videos about the usage of essential oils on his YouTube channel.
I hope you’ve found this post helpful.
