I recently discovered the television show, 24. Not that I didn’t know about it before this. I have a number of friends who were talking about it back in 2001 when the show debuted on Fox. Not quite sure why I didn’t try it back then. It must have aired at a time when I had another show to watch. Maybe two shows to watch once I had a DVR. I never saw a single episode of it from 2001 until it went off the air in 2010.
Enter Netflix and video streaming. 24 has become my latest “exercise entertainment.” Watching something I enjoy keeps me walking longer. A one hour show, minus commercials, is usually 42 minutes of walking. Not the 10,000 steps that is my goal for each day, but it gets me more than half way there.
I hope all eight years, plus the two hour movie that goes between seasons 7 and 8, are as good as the episodes from season 1 that I’ve watched thus far. The amazing thing is, this TV series will give me approximately 194 days of exercise on my treadmill. That’s over six months of daily walking time. Wow! I may have to break that up a bit with movies that aren’t quite as intense.
[Tweet “Is it possible to get ulcers from watching a TV show?”] I ask because I’ve already learned the writers of 24 aren’t afraid to do terrible things to “the good guys/gals” or to kill off a character I’ve begun to care about. I definitely care about Jack Bauer. Kiefer Sutherland is so believable in the role.
I heard recently that Fox is going to bring back 24 in a shorter format, covering a couple of hours per show. It won’t begin to air until May of 2014. Which means I can get caught up on it before it returns to the home screens. Yea!
Any other 24 fans out there?
