It’s Back to School for Robin

Well, dear readers, it’s that time of year again. Summer is winding down (although our 109℉ temp a couple of weeks ago seems to deny that), and the stores are filled with shoppers buying backpacks and school supplies to fill them.

I’m too old for shopping at Target and Walmart when it’s crazy like that. What I need I mostly get on Amazon (lazy shopper). But that doesn’t mean I’m not headed back for another college term. I am and I’m excited. In fact, I may be sitting in my Spanish class when you read this.

Since I’m a full time writer, I’m very part time in my college studies. That’s okay. I’m content to take my time. It’s the learning I love so I’m not making a race of it. Someday, God willing, I will actually graduate. I fully expect to be the oldest graduating student when I wear that cap and gown. I just want to do it before I need to use a walker to go up to the stage.

  1. I was 44 when i finally got my bachelor’s degree and 49 when i got my mba. Believe me, there are lots of older students out there. Keep on going, and enjoy the experience. God will help carry through it and bless you with wonderful new friends in the process.

      1. If you want help with Spanish, I highly recommend http://www.duolingo.com. It is a free language learning website that makes learning easy and fun for all ages. My daughter is using it to learn Portuguese and she is only 6 and I’m using it to perfect my Portuguese, learning Spanish, and many other languages too. (Just for fun.) This course helps with the reading, writing and listening of the languages with thousands of words that are added a little at a time.

  2. Good for you!!!!! Going to school, even part time is great. Of course, writing full time is no easy feat either. And, I love your writing. So, take what time you need, keep writing and keep going to school.
    Love you.

  3. HI Robin
I am 45 and I will be returning to the classroom as well this fall. I haven’t been in a college classroom for about 18 years now and the time before that was 27 years ago. Although this time will be evening classes, it’s still college. I am going back to where I should have started the first time I went to college to get my ECE Diploma. It will take me 2 years and a bit as it is an apprenticeship, which means I can work full time and go to school. I am very excited. I will be graduating a year or two before my son graduates from high school. Crazy but we are never to old to learn new things. Who says only young people can go to college.
