Thanksgiving has come and gone, but I will continue giving thanks through the end of the November. However, today I choose to be thankful for the season we are entering.
I'm thankful for Christmas, and I'm thankful for the reason for Christmas — celebration of the birth of Christ. I'm thankful that we can still say "Merry Christmas" in America, although there are those who would like to stop us from doing so. But while others might enjoy the holidays, I will celebrate Christmas and be thankful for it.
- I'm thankful for the scent of pine trees, for peppermint candy canes, for the jingle of silver bells, and for the twinkling of pretty lights.
- I'm thankful for secret Santas and secret giving. May God save us from commercialism and remind us what gift giving should be.
