. . . it must be American Idol night, and I am going to write my thoughts during the show and post them when the hour is over.
Lisa: The panel was right. This was not a good performance. Just as Simon said, listening to it on TV was painful in spots. Although I haven’t heard other performances yet, I’d say this could land Lisa in the bottom three once again.
Kellie: Hmm. She looks cute as can be, but I wasn’t wowed by the song. Yep, the panel is saying the same thing. The song is boring, shows no range.
Ace: Goodness, what did the stylists do to his hair? Another poor song choice, it seems to me. But he sure does have a thousand watt smile. There’s Randy, saying what I was thinking. Not a good vocal.
***commercial *** It’s got to get better, right?
Taylor: Okay, here is a good vocal. I wasn’t sure he would find the right 21st century sound, but he did it. I like this guy. He’s got a great voice.
Mandisa: A praise song. Wow! But poor girl. She sang to praise God, and she gets the "church of Mandisa" comment. She didn’t like that! I must say, it was not a favorite vocal. As a believer, I know what was behind her song choice, but if I were just Joe-American-Idol viewer, I’m not sure it (the vocal) would cause me to vote for her.
***commercial*** It did get better.
Chris: Sorry. That isn’t singing. It’s just shouting with music and lights. I grew up in the age of Rock n Roll, but I still prefer singing to shouting and repeating "what if" a dozen times. Nope, did not do it for me at all.
Katharine: Started a bit rough. But I guess she pulled it off. I wasn’t bowled over by the performance or the vocal. Good but not great. She has done so much better in the past.
Bucky: Okay, he will never be the American Idol. It was a song that fit him, but he doesn’t have a great voice. And his diction is poor, indeed.
Paris: Well, she owns the stage. Is she really only 17?
Elliott: Hmm. Another favorite who didn’t wow me. Yes, he can sing, but I like it better when I can hear more of the voice.
All in all, this was not a great Idol night for me. I’ve been Simoned.
