Tonight was the two hour Idol Gives Back special. They raised a lot of money ($30 million), and I hope they raise a lot more in the hours and days to come. I tried to give on line and couldn’t get through to the web site for about an hour. But finally I made it. They said they got 70 million votes last night. I made quite a few calls but also got lots of busy signals.
The footage of poverty was very sad. It breaks my heart. I long for suffering like this to end. I know it grieves the heart of God as well.
Must throw in that there wasn’t a lot of music during the two hour special. Wish there’d been more singing and fewer ads.
As for the results — drum roll, please — the result is there was no result. They didn’t send anyone home this week but will send two home next week. They played it up, trying to make us think Jordin could be the one to go. No way!!! I wasn’t falling for that one. But it must have been an awful moment for her. (Can we say, Cruel?) Given the upbeat and charitable mood of the show, not sending anyone home was probably the right thing to do.
