Another Tuesday. Another American Idol. I had a little TV trouble, so I didn't see the first few minutes and don't know what their song choices or theme was for this week. (Can someone tell me?) The show felt a little rushed since it was down to an hour instead of two, but it did dispense with a lot of Ryan trying to fill the time, which was okay with me.
Katie sang Breakaway. I found it an only okay performance. She was trying hard to give the judges what they asked for, but none of them felt she managed it. I'd give it a 3.0 out of 5.
Siobhan chose House of the Rising Sun, and she started it a cappella. While Simon didn't love it, this time I disagree with him. I LOVED it. Very impressive in my POV. I'd give it a 4.8 out of 5.
Lacey was up next with The Story. Hmm. The judges seemed to really like the performance, but I just wasn't hearing it. I would give it a 3.5 out of 5.
Katelyn brought us I Feel the Earth Move. She was at the keyboard, standing, and I don't think that helped her performance. She felt tied to it when she should have been moving with the earth. Only a 3.0 out of 5 for me.
Didi sang Rhiannon (Fleetwood Mac), accompanied by her acoustic guitar. This girl has such a unique voice, and I thought she was back in great form tonight. Simon thought it was the best of the night. I'm not going that far but I'd give it a matching 4.8 out of 5, same as Siobhan.
Paige chose Smile, a song I love. But I found her performance very sad and off. I think the arrangement was weird. Judges were tough on her, and I have to agree with them. I'd have to give it a 2.0 out of 5.
Crystal and her guitar brought us Give Me One Reason. I loved, loved, loved it. She is the first "rocker chick" in all the Idol years I've been watching that I am fully on board with. I'm giving her a perfect 5.0.
The show closed with Lilly (with mandolin) singing I Fall to Pieces. I'm a big fan of Patsy Cline. Have one or two of her albums on my iPod, and this is one of my favorites. Sadly, Lilly didn't make me enjoy it this time. I found her off-key and disappointing. Randy, Ellen, and Kara enjoyed it. Huh? Only Simon agreed with me. At best, a 2.7 out of 5.
