Tonight’s theme was songs from the movies with Quentin Tarantino as the guest coach. Because the show ran long last week and had a lot of upset fans of American Idol and/or the show that follows, they are judging in pairs tonight. Randy and Kara judged some performances and Paula and Simon judged the others.
Allison was good but didn’t blow me away. I really liked Anoop’s Everything I Do. And while Paula was ga-ga over Adam’s frenetic Born to Be Wild, I’m afraid that the screeching notes he likes to throw into nearly every performance caused me to mark it down to a non-favorite. (Hey, did I tell you Adam is following me in Twitter? LOL! I feel so hip.)
Matt didn’t do it for me tonight; the performance fell flat for the judges too. Danny sang Endless Love, and the judges liked it but Simon was disappointed he made it such a traditional version. Huh? I thought the simplicity was just right. And while Randy found Kris’s performance pitchy, Kara loved it and so did I.
Finally, Lil sang The Rose. It was okay but not great, and Simon told her so. I predict she will be in the bottom three, joined by Matt. I would put Adam in that bottom three, too, but I don’t think his fans will let that happen.
My favorites of the night:
Anoop | Danny | Kris
