The show began with a dance number from the final 7, choreographed by Paula. I enjoyed it. The kids did a good job singing and dancing.
The producers of Idol must have figured that America had no doubts that Lil Rounds would go home tonight because they let us know we were right very early in the show.
Lil’s goodbye performance was followed by a medley of songs from three disco artists (Freda Payne, Thelma Houston, and Harry “K.C.” Casey). I gotta say, it was … strange. Or maybe the 80’s disco scene was always strange and the passage of 20+ years magnified it. <g> The Freda seemed really winded by the song, and K.C. just seemed plastic.
Back to the eliminations: My top three all made it through very quickly — Kris, Adam, Danny. Who went to the remaining two “bottom” stools? Yesterday I guessed it could be any of the remaining kids (Matt, Allison or Anoop). Matt was safe and I was kind of glad to see the judges’ save didn’t go to waste. So Anoop and Allison had to await their fate. Which of them would join Lil and exit the show?
But, of course, we wouldn’t know the answer to that question until we had another guest performer — David Archuleta. Such a cute kid, isn’t he? It was fun to see him perform again. Then after the break we had our answer: Anoop sang his Idol swan song.
Lil and Anoop, here’s a ton of good wishes for you to know success in your future careers.
