So we get a two hour results show. Groan. I wish they wouldn’t drag it out so much.
As they discussed the wild card picks, they didn’t actually give a number so I still wasn’t sure how many of those there would be. They just said that after they name the top 5 boys and top 5 girls, the judges will decide who of the remaining 14 they want to sing for those wild card slots. So I guess maybe they actually need two hours.
First in the top ten … Scotty … and Robbie went back to the stools. Next up were Clint, Jovany, and Jordan. All were low scorers in my opinion. All three went back to the stools, not making it into the top five boys. Now to the girls. Pia and Lauren A. were brought forward. And Lauren is in the top ten … and so is Pia. (So far I’m three for three.) Next up were Ta-Tynisa and Julie. Both of them scored only threes from me. And both of them went back to the stools.
At this point we were 46 minutes into the show and only have three of the top ten. Talk about dragging it out. They could have definitely done this in one hour.
Kendra, Ashthon, and Karen were called forward at 51 minutes into the night. Ashthon was sent back to the stools as was Kendra. Karen is in the top ten. Next came Jacob, Casey, and Tim. Jacob is in the top ten and so is Casey. Tim went back to the stools. And next came Naima, Thia, and Lauren T. Naima was sent back to the stools and so was Lauren T. Thia is in the top ten. Next up were Brett and Paul. Paul is in the top ten. (So far I’ve picked seven of the eight top ten.) The last two girls were Haley and Rachel. And it’s Haley who made it into the top ten. And finally they brought the last two guys, Stefano and James. And was there any doubt at all that James would be the top ten? No.
At 8:10 MST, we finally had all ten of America’s choices (Casey, Haley, Jacob, James, Karen, Lauren A., Paul, Pia, Scotty, and Thia):
Well, my math was wrong. They will choose three wild cards which means we will lose just one each week from here on out. And they won’t have all fourteen who didn’t make the cut perform. Just three girls and three boys. And the winners from the six are Ashthon, Naima, and Stefano.
The benefit of cutting so many so fast is that we won’t be having three shows a week for a month. So I’ll see you next Wednesday for the performances of the top 13.
