However it’s spelled, that’s what I am. Exhausted! To the max!
I sent off my final book in the Hart’s Crossing series this afternoon after a full week of many hours at the computer. When I get to this point in a book, the deadline beating down on me, I forget to get up from the chair, I forget to stretch, I even forget to eat.
Right now, everything hurts.
As for the finished manuscript, I like what’s there, but what’s there is not enough. It still needs work. I already know I must add an epilogue, and it needs a few other new scenes between the opening and the ending. Once I have a couple days of space, I’m sure I’ll think of at least a half dozen ways to make the story better.
I am so thankful for my editors! I’m thankful for substantive edits and for line edits and for copy edits and for page proofs. I’m thankful I’ll have another whack at this story.
And I’m thankful for a comfortable bed and the really good night’s sleep I hope to get tonight.
