I’ve been listening to the WoW Christmas CD in my car and have played Mary, Did You Know?, sung by Kathy Mattea, numerous times this past week. The words stir my heart every time. I think of holding my own children in my arms when they were newborns. How could I have imagined what they would be, what they would do? They were simply my precious babies, and I loved them. Blessed Mary, even knowing the miracle of Jesus’ conception. How could she possibly understand that she was holding the Savior of the world in her arms, holding the great I AM?
Father-God, how amazing was Your plan of salvation. That You would come to us as a child. So unexpected. Lord, would You reveal Yourself once again to a world that is blind and deaf? Would You show Yourself to a nation determined to remove Christ from Christmas, to forget why we give gifts, why December 25th is a holiday, a time for families to gather together? Would You give courage to Your children to speak up? Turn the tide, Lord. Amen.
