September 11th. Twelve years. Kids who were born in September 2001 are turning or have turned twelve years old. I have a granddaughter among them. I remember being present at her birth, not many days after 9/11, and thinking how good it was to have a moment of happiness amid all of the fear and uncertainty and sorrow.
Twelve years old. These kids just started a new school year in the sixth or seventh grades, depending upon the age cut off date of their school districts. And they will never know the America I once knew. I wish they could.
Stop a moment this morning and remember. Stop and pray for those in the military and their families. Stop and pray for our leaders that they may be men and women of wisdom and compassion and good old fashioned commonsense. God help our country. God bless America.
