This summer I am studying the book of Ephesians, verse by verse, using the book, Pathway to God’s Treasure (by Lenya Heitzig & Penny Pierce Rose). There are two quotes from this morning’s study that really spoke to my heart, especially in light of my prayers each morning that God will help me to write the book He wants me to write.
Ephesians 4:11-13 takes a look at some of the spiritual gifts God gives. Here are the two quotes that touched my heart: “God is not like a great Sears & Roebuck catalog in the sky. We don’t order what we want. He chooses what gifts to give us — with a no-exchange policy.” And then… “God’s gifts aren’t toys to play with; they’re tools to build with. These ‘power tools’ must be taken out of God’s toolbox, plugged into His Spirit, and put to work in each believer’s life and in ministry.”
What an awesome reminder! God called me into a ministry of writing for Him. I don’t always understand the call, but I do know He called and I heard. He didn’t give me the ability to write and the desire to write as a benefit to me, although He certainly teaches me as I obey Him. He gave me gifts so that I can work for Him.
Praise the Lord!
