As I read my Bible this morning, I came across a passage in 1 Kings 4 that says King Solomon, son of David, wrote some 3000 proverbs and 1005 songs. He did this while ruling a nation. I don’t know if the Bible records how many psalms King David wrote, but I know there were a lot of them. And while David wrote some of those psalms, he was being chased through the wilderness by men determined to kill him.
I guess I shouldn’t complain about my writing conditions, huh? I’m supported in my creative endeavors. Oh sure. Family can be disruptive to my routine, but they aren’t out to kill me. They are proud of me and what I do. They pray for me and my writing ministry.
Anyway, as I read those verses this morning, I also thought how special it was that I have been called to the same creative activity as two great kings. They were writers. I’m a writer. How cool is that? But wait! I’m a child of the King, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, should I? It’s all in the family.
