The entry for September 19 in New Morning Mercies begins with this:
Corporate worship is designed to make you thankful, not just for possessions and accomplishments, but for what you’ve been given in Christ.
A little further down, talking about what happened to him (the author) while in worship in a service, he said:
I needed to be not just thankful for the ease, comforts, and accomplishments of life, but thankful for things of eternal value. I needed to see, understand, cry out for, and celebrate grace once again.
Oh, how those words made my heart quicken. For it reminded me of the times, as I’ve been surrounded by other believers singing praises to God (in corporate worship), that I have stopped singing and simply let the other voices wash over me and fill me with wonder and the understanding of all that God is to me and all He has done for me.
Celebrating grace once again!!
I hadn’t understood my experience before in those exact words, but that’s what it was and is. I am celebrating His grace in my life.
In the grip of His grace,
Robin
