I have paused in my running around like a chicken with its head cut off (packing suitcases, making lists, loading files onto my laptop) to post something to my blog. I may or may not find time over the next week to drop by Write Thinking, but I’m going to give it the old college try. I especially want to share photos.
Where am I going? Orlando, Florida. And thankfully, Hurricane Bertha turned northeast. At least, that’s what I heard yesterday. Hope it is still true. I prefer not to experience a hurricane first hand. One reason I live in Idaho is to avoid some of these nasty weather situations (not that we can’t have a good windstorm every now and again).
Once in Florida, I will spend a couple of days at a novelists’ retreat, followed by attendance at the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS). I’ve got an autographing to do, plus interviews and meetings with editors and fun evenings at publishers’ events. Several very good buddies of mine are up for the Christy Awards this year, so I’ll be attending the banquet and cheering them on. Three good friends are up for the same award in the Romance category (my book, Whispers From Yesterday, won in this category in 2000), so I’ll be cheering for all three and be happy for whoever wins.
This will be my ninth ICRS in a row. The shows are exhausting, but I would hate to miss them. As long as I’m healthy enough to travel and airfares don’t bankrupt me, I’ll go. The best part is being with my fellow Christian novelists. I value the friendships that have been formed through the years, and when I’m with them, I often think what it will be like in heaven when we are all there together, worshipping the Lord. Paradise!
Well, back to my packing and list making.
