I’ve got Christmas music playing on iTunes and Vanilla Spice oil in my diffuser, and I just finished buying a Llama at Heifer.org as my Christmas gift to my BFFs and publishing associates. This is my favorite kind of gift giving for Christmas.
And I will get to do it again. This year, when my family gathers for our Christmas Eve together (dinner plus presents from Grandma to grandchildren and a gift exchange for the adults), I’m going to open the Heifer calendar and have each child pick a portion of an animal as their gift in honor of Jesus’ birthday.
I feel very much in the Christmas spirit this morning!
For those readers who have been with me awhile, you’ll know that December is when I begin asking God for a word for the New Year. Sometimes He gives me more than one, but they are interrelated. Here are my words for the past few years:
2007: Peace and Simplicity
2008: Intimacy (with God) and Devotion (to God)
Actually, God gave me my word for 2009 this morning, and I’m excited to see what He will teach me about it and through it in the coming year. However, I always reveal the word on December 31st so you’ll have to wait a little while to know what it is.
I hope you will join me in asking God to reveal a word for you in 2009. It has blessed me since I began this practice, and I believe it will bless you too.
I’m down to just a few days until my book is due to my editor. Still not as close as I need to be to The End, so now I’m off to write the day away.
