Welcome to the Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt! If you’ve just discovered the hunt, be sure to start at Stop #1, and collect the clues through all the stops, in order, so you can enter to win one of our top 5 grand prizes!

About me…

To start with, welcome to my website. I’m Robin Lee Hatcher, and I’m the author of over 80 novels and novellas. I write contemporary and historical fiction, and this year, my first biblical novel, Rich Beyond Measure, was released (enter below for a chance to win a copy). Holly Stanford is doing the best she can with the restaurant she inherited from her late uncle. But after her fiancé abandons her and the business, Holly regrets having given up her dream of becoming a pastry chef. Now a few bad financial decisions might cost her everything, including her hope for the future. Jed Henning has done well with his new company despite his prodigal brother’s behavior. When Jed‘s father , the controlling member of the board of directors, temporarily suspends operations until his sons work out their differences, Jed resentfully chases his brother, Chris, to Boise. There, Jed rents a basement apartment from Holly and hopes to convince Chris to get his act together before their company collapses. Unaware that Holly is the one person who can help him get through to Chris, Jed starts the tough work of reconciliation armed with little more than a few family photographs, a stack of old letters, and a Bible that belonged to his great-grandfather, Andrew Henning. And as romance blossoms between Holly and Jed, the story of Jed’s great-grandfather highlights the power of God across the generations and the legacy of a family’s courageous faith.

Bible Margins: An Unexpected Legacy of Faith

A legacy of faith … Of anything I hope to leave to my children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, et al, that would be at the top of my list.

My Legacy of Faith series was born when I was reading my study Bible and paused to look at the notes I’ve made in its narrow margins over the past 23 years that I’ve been using this one. Suddenly I wondered what my thoughts and prayers might mean to my descendants after I’m gone. How might God use them to reach someone else with His truth? I’ve always been someone who’s written in the margins of my Bibles, but over the past four years, my written interactions with the Lord have become even more precious to me.

Do you write in the margins of your Bible? What might God teach you now that He could then speak to another who comes after? Here are just a few ways that I do it.

  7. Robin, love your thoughts about the notes in your Bible’s margins being left to your children, grandchildren, etc. I always think of that as my Bible gets more worn around the edges–cherished evidence of sweet quiet times and connecting with God.

  36. I highlight verses in my Bible, but I write tons of notes in the back pages. When the cover of the Bible I’ve used for decades literally fell off, I got it recovered and had them add extra blank pages at the back. I’ve filled them all.   71. Getting introduced to new authors all while bundled up is an exciting adventure! It’s all the things we love about discovering new things. And yet, there is something to be said for the familiar, tried and true as well. The scavenger hunt provides both…and it’s free…at least at the beginning! Once I start buying those books, not so much. But it has the added benefit of helping me with my Christmas list. Oh, and then there is the playing of the game; I love to play games, to compete. The truth is, I rarely win at these things. But the CHANCE to win is thrilling.

    This is the third time this week (one was in a fiction book!) where someone has mentioned giving a Bible to the future generations. A friend has one for each of her children to give them when they graduate from high school. I was debating how to go about doing this when God has put the idea in front of me twice more! Any suggestions of the things that I might want to start including? I am not much into Bible journaling but great at notes I am learning in my own Bible.

    1. Heather, I put dates in the margins (when something really speaks to me). I write names in the margins, especially if I’m praying Scripture for someone. When I’m reading, when I have a new insight, I write that in the margin. Sometimes I include something I heard in a sermon.
