Book in a week

May 15, 2002 By Robin Lee Hatcher

Another Wednesday. Another week closer to deadline. Most of the writers I know, myself included, are terrific procrastinators. But at some point we always find ourselves pushed against the wall and having to write like crazy. So here I am. I’m participating in a “Book in a Week” group at the moment. No, we don’t actually write a book in one week.

(Don’t I wish!) The point is to try to shut off the internal editor and get words down on paper, writing as many pages as possible each day of the week. The ideal BIAW is done when the writer has cleared her calendar of everything. I don’t ever have such a week, so I’m just doing the best I can with the time I’ve got. So far, so good. The good news is, I’m on schedule for turning the book in on time. The great news is, I like how the story is progressing. Better get to it.
