My reading in the Word this morning was 2nd Timothy. Lots of good stuff here. But here are a couple that stood out to me:
2:14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless, and leads to the ruin of the hearers. and 2:24 And the Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged
Ouch! These two verses smacked me up alongside the head. Don’t wrangle about words. Don’t be quarrelsome. Wrangling, as this scripture says, is useless and leads to ruin.
3:12 And indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
Do you know Jesus? Do you strive to live a godly life? Then you WILL be persecuted. Period. People will hate and despise you for no other reason. They will think you are intolerant. They will think you are a prude and/or pious.
4:6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering…
O Lord, pour me out to the last drop! Let my life be a drink offering to You. Amen.
