Yesterday was SW Idaho’s hottest day of the year thus far. We hit 95. Not a record (that would be 103), but plenty hot, especially since we’ve had such an unusually cool, wet spring. Hot enough to set off a spectacular thunder and lightning display at around 9 pm last night. Here are a few photos that I got from a local news source:
Wow! The power! The awesome beauty! A few times, the thunder was so loud, fierce, and rolling that Poppet was going nuts, certain that someone was outside pounding on the door.
Thankfully, the storm only set off a couple of fires that I know of and both were brought under control rather quickly. Plus, the storm dumped some rain which definitely helped the situation.
I will confess that I like seeing the photos more than I like the storm at the time.
